How to Wash Your Cashmere

Are you ready to give your beloved Margaret O'Leary sweater some TLC? You've come to the right place! Wool and cashmere are two of the best materials for sweaters because you do not need to wash them after every wear. We recommend washing your wool or cashmere sweater twice per season or as needed. To keep your sweaters looking their very best, opt for hand washing. Check out our step-by-step guide below for how to hand-wash wool and cashmere.*

STEP 1.

Start by filling a basin with lukewarm water and a small amount of gentle, dye-free detergent.

We recommend Clothes Doctor's No. 3 Eco Wash for Cashmere & Wool.

STEP 2.

Submerge your sweater and gently massage it.

Leave it to soak for up to 30 minutes.

STEP 3.

Rinse with cool water until the water runs clear and there are no more suds.

Gently press or squeeze your sweater to let out excess water. Be careful not to twist or stretch it.

STEP 4.

Lay the sweater flat on a dry towel. Roll the towel up like a yoga mat, pressing as you go.

Unroll and lay flat to finish drying. Never use a dryer and avoid leaving it in direct sunlight.

*Always check the care label if you are unsure of how to care for your sweater. If in doubt, take to a trusted dry cleaner.
